Challenges and Opportunities for Young Scientists within EU Research Programmes (November 6, 2007)

The seminar, organised by the Technology Centre AS CR in collaboration with the Institute of Chemical Technology and Joint Research Centre, will be held in the frame of the 3rd International Symposium on Recent Advances in Food Analysis . The objectif of the event is to present and to promote the opportunities of FP7 to the young scientist in the area of food. The seminar is free and you can register on the website. 4th Symposium on Biosorption and Bioremediation

This is already the fourth meeting in series of FEMS - supported biosorption, biodegradation and bioremediation symposia and we hope it will be as successful as the previous ones. The symposium will take place in Prague, the capital city of the Czech Republic, August 26 - 30, 2007, in Hotel Moevenpick. There is an on-line registration form on the website http://bab07.vscht.cz . You can find all the details for on-line abstract submission and the preliminary scientific programme there. Further speakers will be selected on a basis of the submitted abstracts. Please note, that the applications for FEMS Young Scientist Travel Grant are to be submitted to the organizing committee before March 28th, 2007.
Cairo: FP7 Agriculture Food & Biotechnology Research cooperation between the EU and the Mediterranean partners

The Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture & Land Reclamation-Agriculture Research Center (AGERI) in collaboration with the European Commission -DGRTD E biotechnologies, Agriculture and Food- is organizing a Workshop on 'FP7 Agriculture Food & Biotechnology Research cooperation between the EU and the Mediterranean partners to be held in Cairo, Egypt, on 11-12 February 2007. The aim of this event is to promote the launch of FP7 and networking between the EU and the Mediterranean partners scientific communities in the area of biotechnologies, agriculture, food and fisheries, in view of the first FP7 calls. Furthermore, this workshop should provide the opportunity to jointly discuss and identify further areas of mutual interest and complementarities in these research fields between the European Union and the Mediterranean region. The workshop will be a timely opportunity for the EC to explain into more detail the structure and content of the forthcoming 7th Framework Programme for Research in view of reinforced international co-operation in the area during FP7 and beyond (11 February). The 12 February will be dedicated to a brokerage event where EU and Egyptian/MEDA experts will have the opportunity to work in parallel working groups on specific themes of interest in view of potential co-operation within FP7. Finding Partners in Research and Technology Cooperation

The Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) and the Innovation Relay Centre Austria in cooperation with the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber and the Food Testing & Research Institute are organising the INTERNATIONAL FOOD EXPERT DAY. This unique event will enable interaction between SMEs and food experts who are looking to exchange innovative ideas, find solutions for technical problems and get involved in European research projects. At the premises of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber in Vienna, the 14th of February 2007 participants will have the chance to network in the European science community.
