The main objectives of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), Division for European and International Programmes (EIP) is the support of the implementation of the Community Framework Programmes in Austria and fostering the participation of Austrian companies and research organisations in European and international research and technology programmes. As host for all National Contact Points (NCPs), FFG/EIP's main services are to create awareness on collaborative trans-national RTD, to offer information and consultancy on international research and technology programmes, and to give advice on criteria, modalities for participation and technical procedures related to project preparation and applications. FFG/EIP is working with 53 experts in all technology sectors, thus ensuring adequate thematic assistance in proposal preparation. As host of the Innovation Relay Centre Austria, FFG is also pro-actively supporting Technology Transfer.

Staff involved in the project

Ms. Birgit Steininger, Mag., (Head of Unit Life Sciences and Technologies), nutritional scientist by training, 3 years experience in marketing-management, certified project manager (IPMA) acts as expert for Life Sciences and is National Contact Point (NCP) for Thematic Priority 5 “Food quality and safety” in the 6th Framework Programme. She co-ordinates the EU-initiative “SMEs go LifeSciences” and oversees the successful participation of the Life Sciences unit in the EU-projects SMEsforFOOD, TRAIN-NET future and QualityMeat. All EU projects under her responsibility are support measures for implementing the 6th Framework programme contributing to the successful participation of researchers and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in FP6 as well as contributing to the exchange of experience and training among all European National Contact Points. Within the 5th Framework Programme she acted as expert in the Quality of Life programme and managed the EU-funded project “TRAIN-NET, a training measure for all Quality of Life NCPs.

Ms. Marcella Gross, Mag., (Team member of Unit Life Sciences and Technologies), nutritional scientist by training; 6 years experience in the conference services of the United Nations, Vienna, responsible for international event management. Her activities as expert for Life Sciences include consultations related to FAFB in FP7; project management, working with the national/international activities in the EU-project TrainNet Future. Furthermore she was involved in the EU-Project SMEsforFOOD contacting and mobilising Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) opportunities of the EU-Framework Programme.
